Weekend Review (Jan. 22 - 24)

I ended up at the Shrine Center on Friday evening for a meeting with my Commercial Oversight Committee. This committee is going to assist our general manager with creating a effecient, lean method of tracking our financial obligations of the commercial side. It was a very productive meeting, and once again I find myself in awe of the knowledge that our Nobles have over many areas. I find myself thinking where else would you find a collection of people from all cultures and socio-economic situations that meet on the Level and act in unison for the best of the organization, not out of obligation, but out of love for the group.

Saturday: Did I think that I would get some extra, well-deserved sleep, WRONG!!! Carrie and I were at the Shrine Center at 7:00 A.M. to get ready for her first ladies meeting. Her Chairladies did a fantastic job setting up the Nobles Lounge, decorated in maize and blue, with awesome fruits, donuts, and pastries. I did not attend the meeting and Carrie had to leave at 10:30 for a job seminar at a local hospital, but afterwards all the ladies told me what a wonderful job Carrie was doing. Did I expect anything else, of course not. Carrie has an incredible sense of organization and presentation skills that are unmatched. I am so envious of her talent.

As Carrie went to work for the rest of the day, I drove down to Taylor, MI and worked a 6 hour shift at the Charity Poker room that the Shrine had received a license for this weekend. This event was very successful and I had fun talking with some of the other Nobles assisting us, and in general all the players that showed up during the evening.

I did get home by 9:30 and Carrie and I had a late dinner/snack.

SUNDAY: DAY OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So what did I do, well finally, my Brother and I went to see Avatar in Imax 3D. This is by far one of the best movies I have seen, the story, the visual and sound effects, the entire movie was so well done. James Cameron is a genius.

I got home to watch the end of the Colts/Jets and the beginning of the Saints/Vikings. Two good games, I was not disappointed. Early Super Bowl pick: Colts by 6.

All in all, very good weekend. I am not going to comment on the weather, because I do not want to jinx what is going on this winter in SE Michigan, but there is no complaints from this part of Sterling Heights.
