Well, things have quieted down a bit. We did not have a Board meeting on Monday, due to another group I belong to meeting.
On Tuesday January 19, I had the pleasure of attending the City of Sterling Heights City Council Meeting where a resolution was read and passed in appreciation of the efforts of our Most Worshipful Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Michigan, Most Worshipful Brother Don Carman. Don lives in Sterling Heights, and if you think I am busy, for the past 7 years Don has travelled all around Michigan and the country representing the 60,000 Masons of Michigan. His term as Grand Master began last June and will continue until the end of May. One of the greatest accomplishments of Don's impressive resume, is he served as Potentate of Moslem Shriners in 1995, and he gave me the honor of being in attendance to present me with my Potentate's Jewel at the installation. I have such admiration for his character, truly a gentleman.
Wednesday January 20. I drove to Belleville, MI right after work to visit the Rawsonville Shrine Club. I was joined by the Chief Aide and Oriental Guide, along with about 12 members. A very productive meeting. One of the initiatives that was discussed, and passed was that the club will subsidizing a portion of any new member's initiation fee if he decides to commit to membership in Rawsonville Shrine Club. I am passing this information along to the other clubs, what a novel idea.
Thursday January 21, after work I spend time with my bride, how you might say. Well first we picked her car up from repairs and lo and behold end up at the Shrine Center. Carrie will be conducting her first Chairlady meeting on Saturday and I am trying to stay out of her way while she prepares. What a trooper. I think that I am going to take her for some Cold Stone Ice Cream on the way home, hmmmm, hmmm good.
Enough for now. Next post discussing what is a Shrine Club?
