Wednesday September 29, 2010

Very busy last couple of days.

Monday 9-27-10: Was at the Shrine Center for a Board of Director's Meeting and then drover out to Farmington to celebrate the Fall Kick-Off of the Director's Staff. We had a very good BoD meeting and the D-Staff event probably had around 60 members.

Tuesday 9-28-10: I arrived at the Shrine Center at 4:30 to take take care of the bills/accounts during the Financial Advisory Committe Meeting, followed by a brief Board of Director's Meeting. Then, the Shrine Center had three simulataneous events: The Shriners Annual Golf League Banquet, the Scottish Rite Awards Banquet and our usual customer on Tuesday evenings (600 people). The commercial staff really earned their money this evening, but it seemed very well organized and I was happy at the overall performance.

I also had a Unit Directors Meeting at 7:00 P.M., along with our Highlanders and Brass Band Unit meetings. I would not be surprised if we came close to 1000 people in the building last night. This type of evening really brought home the rewards of all our hard work. We have a home that is successful commercially and fraternally. Of course we are not at the ulitmate goal of being a central point for all Shriners, but we are getting closer with every plan the Board of Directors enact. I cannot begin to extend my gratitude with the Board Members, especially the ones the Shrine have elected to be their future Potentates, the vision is clearer than ever and we are now at a point to reach our goals.

Wednesday: After work I am once again going to the Shrine Center to attend the Annual Potentate's Birthday Party. This is an event that the Chief Rabban organizes, and celebrates (roasts) the Potentate. Yes, I know I have been taking a lot of ribbing for this being the 73rd birthday party this year, oh well, I will roll with the punches. I am sure I will hear many comments this evening. I am actually looking forward to attending a Shrine Event that I have no contribution but to show up and enjoy.

We are also getting ready for the Poker Progressive Social Party on Saturday. Basically everything is in place, and the fun is ready to begin. Prior to that I will be celebrating the birth of my beautiful and talented bride, who has endured over 6 years of marriage to this bloggin' pote. Remember, remember, remember, I will whisper some good counsel in your ear: "A HAPPY WIFE IS A HAPPY LIFE"

Much Love
