Did the official end of summer really just pass us by yesterday. Can anyone believe we are in September, and we just celebrated Labor Day?
Carrie and I had a beautiful, restful weekend in Caseville, from Friday through Monday. We were able to relax, enjoy great company and sleep to the sound of waves (some of the most restfull sleep this year). We were able to enjoy the company of the future Potentates of Moslem Shriners, along with their incredible wives. The bonding was great, terrific ideas shared and I am so very proud of what will be accomplished in the future. The Shrine is in good hands, and our leadership strongest than ever. I have to tell you, the vision among your future leaders is very similiar. It is very apparent that although we each have individual egos and personal biases, the general sentiment is whatever it takes to improve our Fraternity and Philanthropy over our egos. There has not been a string of future leaders that share this common goal in a very long time, and we are so very lucky that is the new trend among the nobility. Great job in electing leaders that will benefit the shrine.
Labor Day: We left Caseville and headed to Romeo for the Annual Peach Festival Parade. It was a little overcast and cooler than normal, however, the parade, as always, was well attended and fun. The afterglow was held at a local shriners residence of over 50 acres of land, with great hospitality, hay rides, and of course fantastic food prepared by our own Hungry 5. I do not know whether they have ever been asked to perform more events in one year than 2010, but let me tell you they not only have never disappointed the shrine, they have been incredibly successful during each endevour. What a great dedicated group of Nobles!!!!!!!!
Back to business, we are preparing for a busy couple of months and preparations/meetings begin in earnest this afternoon. My schedule becomes very congested (as if there were huge gaps of inactivity in the past). However, our goal form the onset was to provide social events at least monthly for our membership, and let them decide which ones to attend.
By the way, this weekend was topped off by a great opening day victory by the University of Michigan Wolverines. What a great game, against a pretty good UConn team, I think we chased those Huskies back to the Basketball Court. Anyway, I am very happy at the early performance, and cannot wait to see the Wolverines step onto the field in South Bend this weekend and continue the tradition of Michigan/Notre Dame. I look forward to this game every year, and although neither of us our currently ranked, it usually is a great game.
Go Blue!!!!!!!!!!!!
