First day of Summer '10 and I am still fighting a cold. It has now been a week and I am battling the end results of a brief cold; the congested cough. I feel much better, but probably have a couple of more days before full recovery.
It was a busy weekend. We participated in our 3rd official shrine parade of the season in Canton. Unfortunately, many of our members lost power the night before, due to the inclement weather and 50+ mile winds, therefore the participation was a little less than previous years. The same held true with the general turnout in the audience, which probably was half as populated as previous parades.
We finished real fast, about 10:15 AM. I was in my car and headed over to the afterglow, being held by the Shrine's Chief Aide about 8 miles away. What a beautiful early afternoon, great food, cold camel's milk, great company. I left around 3:00 and met Carrie at home, and we went out for dinner.
Sunday: My Uncle had asked Carrie and I to be the godparents of my youngest first cousin, Maya Lisa Dib. Maya is now 5 months old and we attended her baptism Sunday. She was perfect throughout the entire ceremony. We ended up at my uncle's house where we feasted the rest of the evening, the food was incredible.
It is now Monday June 21, the first day of summer (fast, fast, fast, too fast). I have a Board meeting this afternoon and then two Units are beginning their abbreviated Summer meetings at the Shrine Center. I am excited to see how many Nobles attend this evening, which is something that I have been trying to accomplish for a long time.
It is going to be a busy week, but we are less than 2 weeks from the Imperial Convention in Toronto. I cannot beleive it is that time.
There are still way to many Nobles and their ladies that are ill and suffering many health problems, and our thoughts are with them all for a speedy recovery.
