We survived the storms on Thursday evening without any damage or loss of power, which is unusual in our neighborhood. Carrie and I had to cancel our meeting to discuss our Children's Zoo Picnic in September, but will probably meet with the team next week. We are both excited about this event as it brings something we wanted to accomplish from day one to the forefront: have more social functions for our children and grandchildren, making the Shrine a more family-oriented organization.
Friday: I attended the Steak Out for the Yacht Club annual picnic, which is a two day affair, however the Saturday is usually very Shrine-busy and I usually attend the Friday festivities. I beleive there were more boats docked this year than in previous years and we had a lot of fun going boat to boat talking to the Shriners and their ladies. I met some newer Masons and non-Masons who are beginning their journeys in our fraternity and that is always good news. The weather was beautiful and the cool breeze off the lake was perfect. I was joined by our Chief Rabban, Treasurer, Past Pote and his lady for a very good steak dinner. I left around 8:30 so I can get home and see Carrie. Saturday is going to be a very early and long day and wanted to make sure I was well rested.
