This has been a very busy week. I was at the Shrine Center on Sunday (picnic), Monday (Board Meeting), and Tuesday (Finance and landscaping meeting). Wednesday, I stayed home and cooked Carrie dinner (Yeah, I am a good husband, go ahead you can agree).
Thursday, I drove our Co-Chairman for the 1st Annual Shriners Hospital for Children Golf Classic to the TPC-Dearborn for a final meeting. We met the other Co-Chairman and with our new Child Care Director and other supporting Nobles, finalized the details of the Charity Golf Outing, which will be on Monday September 20.
I cannot believe that this is coming together. 3 years ago I was approached with the idea of elevating our local child care golf outing to an event that would potentially make hundreds of thousands for the Shrine Hospitals for Children. I did not even imagine that we could create a program involving one of the elite courses in Michigan, the TPC in Dearborn. When I agreed that was the last I needed to do, these wonderful chairman arranged all the details and this is going to be the first of what will eventually become a stand alone charity golf outing in metroDetroit. That is how confident I am of this event. I envision a few years down the road The Shriners Hospitals for Children Charity Golf Outing at the TPC to rival the behemoths of charity outings (i.e. Ted Lindsay's, Detroit Lions, etc). What a wonderful cause this event will be raising money, the greatest philanthropy in the world. I know that there are many who are disappointed to see the past version replaced, however, I view it as a new path to the financial security of our beloved hospitals. If only I desired to golf, it would be the most fantastic event ever. Oh well, I will be there to assist where required.
Friday, I am down at the Shrine Center rearranging the office furniture in the Pote's office. We purchased new desks, etc for three of the offices to replace the 1970 themed furniture (yeah Retro is not my thing).
I am also assisting our Sportsman's Raffle chairman with numbering of the fantastic door prizes that we purchased last weekend. You know, Life is Good!!!!!!!!!
I will be out of here shortly to begin a nice weekend with the Lovely and Talented Carrie. Tomorrow evening we are going to a very nice restaurant and a movie, and hopefully, weather permitting, do some yard work.
Have a wonderful Weekend.
