Last week turned out to be a let down for me, physically anyway. I came down with a very painful left ankle, which increased in pain throughout the week. I ended up in the ER on Friday, eventually diagnosed with tendonitis. They shot me up with some anti-inflammatories, gave me advil and tylenol 3 and set me on my merry way. The ankle was painful the entire weekend, which put a downer on my one day trip to Boyne Mountain on Saturday. The Oriental Guide picked me up early Sat. AM, along with one of the nicest guys in the Shrine. We had a very nice conversation to and fro.
On Sunday, Carrie and I attended the baptism of my newest cousin (2nd cousin on my father's side and 5th cousin on my mother's side, yes that is another story all together). We attended the church where I was baptised in downtown Detroit, and I think that since that time, the service has increased by at least 50%, wow. Anyway, my cousin Sophia is a little beautiful girl, who looks entirely mid-eastern with beautiful curly black hair. Before going to the restaurant for the reception, and since we were downtown, Carrie and I went to one of our favorite places, Pewabic Pottery. It is really cool that we share our love for their merchandise. If we ever build a house, or purchase a larger house, we will dedicate something out of pewabic material.
We then went to the reception and I got to see my cousin my from Virginia, who was in for the weekend. He is one of the only relatives that shares a love of everything Sci Fi and Fantasy, so we had a great conversation.
Following this, we drove to the Shrine Center to attend the 2011 presentation of the Hawaii Trip. Wow, was this well attended, I believe that at least 50 people will be going. Unfortunately, due to exhausting our vacation time for the current year, Carrie and I will have no time for the first part of 2011, so we cannot attend. I miss Hawaii, truly a paradise on earth.
Monday May 24, 2010: I had a meeting at the Shrine Center after work which went very well. I had an opportunity to speak to our commercial manager, who was proudly showing off the new brochures for the building (incredible). She was on her way to a very large 2 day trade show to exhibit our commercial side. Things are looking bright.
On my way home, I stopped by the Hazel Park Raceway to join members of Rochester Shrine Club during their annual racenight outing. It was good to see so many people in attendance, enjoying the ponies on a beautiful, warm evening.
I got home around 10:30.
Tuesday May 25, 2010: I will be back at the Shrine Center this afternoon for a Finance meeting and brief Board meeting, then it is a 4 day Shrine Vacation for this fellow. I am taking the rest of the week off until we begin our Parade season on Sunday.
I hope that you all are enjoying this increDIBle weather, I Love It. Have a great week.
