Memorial Day 2010

I am writing this at 9:00 P.M. on Memorial Day and I am reviewing the activities of the past few days with tears of joy in my eyes over what the Shrine has brought to my life (I'll get to this in a little while)

On Saturday I attended the funeral of my "Mother". I will not go into details, but this outstanding Noble was a great friend and Shriner. I met him about 10 years ago and he is a big strong retired Detroit policeman. His last couple years of life consisted of an ongoing battle with mulitple infections, wounds, and pain that no one should endure, but he did it with the pride and strength that became his character in life. In all my years as a Mason and Shriner, attending literary 100's of funerals, this was an amazing ceremony. Honor Guards from two different Police Departments conducted full rituals throughout the day, including a 21 gun salute to the background of a police bag piper. Following this, an army representative played the most beautiful version of Taps, while two other Army officers performed a full ritual of the flag folding and presentation. It was very, very impressive, and probably the best way we were able to honor his life.

Sunday May 30, 2010 Parade Season Begins with St. Clair Shores. HOT! HOT!! HOT!!!
I walked the long parade with my great friends from the reception unit. A little over 2 miles and the parade was very well conduct, hardly any stops. I stopped by the afterglow for a little while before driving to Dearborn to attend my cousin's wedding at the Henry Ford. What another great ceremony, this time celebrating the union of love between two great people. This was a part interfaith, part traditional, part esoteric ceremony involving elements of the Hebrew and Christian faiths intermixed with a beautiful combining of different sands (Hawaiian tradition). The reception was beautiful and Carrie and I are so much looking forward to the Pote's Ball which will be held in the same location.

Got home around 12:30 AM to get up at 7 the next morning for the Sterling Heights parade. Well here we go, the parade was great and a lot of my family members showed up to watch. We went to the afterglow and lo and behold, the beautiful brides of my fellow Board Members set up the entire place for a surprise birthday celebration for my 40 years on this planet. The next 5 hours are a little blurry, but one of my cousins (non-Mason/Shriner) put my feelings into perspective, when it was stated that it was real evident that this organization of Nobles and their Ladies is a real family and how alluring it was to be caught in the moment of family/love. You know, this is so true. I feel that I am the most fortunate person in the world, for the love and friendship that has been evolved in this family. Of course I love my blood-relative Family, but the Shrine is so much a part of my life (also for Carrie) that sometimes it feels so much more than just people to meet once and a while. I truly feel that the Supreme Architect has provided for a path of light, whose travels and end results are love for one another. I cannot thank this group of people, my family, for all they have given me, but I hope to continue nurturing and growing this love to our entire organization.

THE SHRINE IS ALIVE AND FUTURE IS BRIGHT, SO MOTE IT BE!!!!!

Thursday May 27

I am having a great week. It started out at the Shrine Center Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, however, I took the rest of this week off for personal enjoyment. I turned 40 yesterday. My mom called me at 7:28 A.M. to wish me a Happy Birthday and stated that she called me exactly 40 years to the minute of when I blessed her life by making her a mother. What a great moment.

My beautiful, lovely and talented bride made me my two pies, and they were delicious (actually still are). We went out to dinner last night with my sister (her sig.other) and my brother. They gave me an Amazon Kindle for a gift, which replaces one that broke over a year ago. How can one not be in heaven.

I feel really good right now. I just found that Kwame Kilpatrick will be 40 next week, so we are both Geminis. I would like to think that he reflects one nature of the mighty Gemini twins, and I the other. I may not have accomplished all he has, but I think that in the end I may have chosen more wisely.

Carrie and I will be having dinner tonight with some of our Pote's Ball team to finalize the details of the event, which is shaping up to be a very nice party.

Have I mentioned that this year is going by soooooooo fast. I hope that Carrie is enjoying it as much as I am, this has been such a phenomenol year. Thankfully, the majority of the events for the rest of the year are in the planning stages, with some of the most competent, efficient chairman in the Shrine presiding over the details. I think that my job at this point is to assist in our transition to a corrected path, a path that my successors will be proud to follow.

For now, I am enjoying this ride and am looking forward to the parades this weekend.

Much Love to all my family, friends and supporters who have stuck by me and choices in life.

The Birthday Tradition

Pie. Pie. And more... pie. The one thing you must know about Michael is that he can pass by cake. He can turn his nose up at cookies (save the oatmeal raisin ones from Bob Lee). But the man loves pie. And raisins, but we can discuss that later.

Even at our wedding: Pie. Yes, there was a cake, too, but I'm not sure Michael was aware of that, he was fixated on the Achatz 4 berry pie just out of his reach.

Ahem, back to the story. During our first year of marriage, I promised Michael that I would made him 2 pies every year for his birthday. His choice. No commentary from "the better half". Just baking and no lip service. (If you don't know me, that is a HUGE gift...)

The first year. Safe pies. Peach and Coconut Cream. Simple. Tasty.

Then.... well, then he got his hands on a Martha Stewart Pie Cookbook. And I believe one of them required me to craft the pie dish on a pottery wheel. Seriously, I don't have 99 assistants like Martha-- so it's hard. (I also do not have a felony record, in case you were curious).

But a promise is a promise. I bake pies. And I bake some strange ones.

Sour-cream raisin? Sure. (it looked like Banana Cream meets a jar of dead flies).

Apple-spinach-sweet-cream pie? Whaaaa? Really? Are you sure two pages didn't get stuck together? Nope. Okay. It's your birthday. (It tasted like feet. After a parade. Blech!)

And then, well, then he found out about the National Pie Competition in Celebration Florida. (you can read more here, because I know you're extremely curious http://www.piecouncil.org/Events/GreatAmericanPieFestival/).

So, this year, I'm making two pies from "festival". A Walnut Chocolate Raisin and a Sweet Apple Cider Pie. They smell good!

Happy Birthday Michael!!! I hope you enjoy your pie!

Monday May 23, 2010

Last week turned out to be a let down for me, physically anyway. I came down with a very painful left ankle, which increased in pain throughout the week. I ended up in the ER on Friday, eventually diagnosed with tendonitis. They shot me up with some anti-inflammatories, gave me advil and tylenol 3 and set me on my merry way. The ankle was painful the entire weekend, which put a downer on my one day trip to Boyne Mountain on Saturday. The Oriental Guide picked me up early Sat. AM, along with one of the nicest guys in the Shrine. We had a very nice conversation to and fro.

On Sunday, Carrie and I attended the baptism of my newest cousin (2nd cousin on my father's side and 5th cousin on my mother's side, yes that is another story all together). We attended the church where I was baptised in downtown Detroit, and I think that since that time, the service has increased by at least 50%, wow. Anyway, my cousin Sophia is a little beautiful girl, who looks entirely mid-eastern with beautiful curly black hair. Before going to the restaurant for the reception, and since we were downtown, Carrie and I went to one of our favorite places, Pewabic Pottery. It is really cool that we share our love for their merchandise. If we ever build a house, or purchase a larger house, we will dedicate something out of pewabic material.

We then went to the reception and I got to see my cousin my from Virginia, who was in for the weekend. He is one of the only relatives that shares a love of everything Sci Fi and Fantasy, so we had a great conversation.

Following this, we drove to the Shrine Center to attend the 2011 presentation of the Hawaii Trip. Wow, was this well attended, I believe that at least 50 people will be going. Unfortunately, due to exhausting our vacation time for the current year, Carrie and I will have no time for the first part of 2011, so we cannot attend. I miss Hawaii, truly a paradise on earth.

Monday May 24, 2010: I had a meeting at the Shrine Center after work which went very well. I had an opportunity to speak to our commercial manager, who was proudly showing off the new brochures for the building (incredible). She was on her way to a very large 2 day trade show to exhibit our commercial side. Things are looking bright.

On my way home, I stopped by the Hazel Park Raceway to join members of Rochester Shrine Club during their annual racenight outing. It was good to see so many people in attendance, enjoying the ponies on a beautiful, warm evening.

I got home around 10:30.

Tuesday May 25, 2010: I will be back at the Shrine Center this afternoon for a Finance meeting and brief Board meeting, then it is a 4 day Shrine Vacation for this fellow. I am taking the rest of the week off until we begin our Parade season on Sunday.

I hope that you all are enjoying this increDIBle weather, I Love It. Have a great week.

Thursday May 20, 2010

When I look at this week so far, it seems that not much has taken place, yet a lot of paperwork was completed.

Unfortunately, due to me taking some time off work in April, I was not able to attend the Grand Lodge of Michigan Annual Communication in Mt. Pleasant this week. The Grand Master, actually now the Junior Past Grand Master was a Past Potentate of Moslem Temple, and one of the finest gentleman you will find. I wished I could have personally attended. The other reason for attending was to finally see the end of my former masonic lodge. The lodge was officially and permanently closed this week, after a year long struggle with much animosity. It is so sad to see how members of our great fraternity, who have taken oaths of brotherly love, relief and truth, exhibit the exact opposite of said tenets. I once believed that increasing the membership of our lodges was the paramount issue a lodge must set its course. That, in doing so, quantity is more important than quality. Well I have learned that this is so far from the truth. If you sacrifice quality for quantity, you are sacrificing so much more. A few bad apples will destroy the entire mix, however, when everything was said and done, our organization's principles overcame this minor stepping stone to further light in Freemasonry. A sad chapter has finally ended, and we can move on with continuing our journey.

I spent most of the week in Southfield, catching up with all the paperwork that comes with being Potenate. I was able to speak with our commercial manager for a while and she expressed her optimism over the future bookings, a small sign that we may be on the road to recovery in SE Michigan.

I also have been visiting some of our sick Nobles, and am continuing this trend the next couple of days. We have way too many Nobles, their ladies, friends and family members who are ill. I can only pray to the Supreme Architect to place their health as a priority, and on the fast track to recovery.

The next week shows a little lull in Shrine Activities, which may be a blessing because the official Shrine Parade Season is 9 days away and all the Units are preparing for the season. I am so happy by the job of our new parade chairman and his team in securing the cities and afterglows.

Well I have some family plans this weekend, so if you don't hear from me, I am probably taking a little time for the Familia.

Much Love and until next time..............

Ceremonial Weekend (May 17, 2010)

I just spent the last 4 days in lovely, sunny, Port Huron at the Thomas Edison Inn. I would imagine at least 150 Nobles visited our hospitality room at one time or another (yes, the camel's milk never stopped flowing). Our hospitality room had a beautiful scenic view of the Blue Water Bridge and the expansive grounds of the inn, and the weather held out the entire weekend. What a sight to see the big freighters coming throught the mouth of Lake Huron at nighttime.

I did not arrive until about 7 PM on Thursday and it was apparent the Shriners had already arrived. I walked into the temporary hospitality area and there were about 20 guys who showed up on Thursday enjoying the camel's milk. I was entertained by the glory tales of yore, too many times hearing the phrase "back in the day". We also had some newer Nobles present who soaked in the environment. This was to be the best continuing theme throughout the weekend, the manner in which newer nobles bonded with one another and learn the true fun nature of our membership.

I played some gin and hit the hay aruond midnight, due to the fact I got suckered into a 9AM tee time, yes I golfed for the 2nd time in my life.

Friday May 14, 2010: Okay, I admit that being out in the open air next to a beautiful river on a golf course is a pleasant experience. 14 foursomes from the Shrine enjoyed the beautiful morning. I never missed my turn and I swung at least once at every shot. That is all I will say about my golfing.

I got back to the hotel around 2:30 P.M. and the hospitality room was filling up very nicely. I was so pleased to see the turnout. I enjoyed a very nice cigar on the patio overlooking the river and bridge with some new friends I got to know this weekend.

We closed the room around 6PM so everyone could travel a couple of miles to the Port Huron Masonic Temple where the Hungry 5, who never cease to amaze me with their accomplishments, grilled over 100 delicious steaks, huge baked potatoes and ice cream cake. Great meal does not begin to describe those steaks.

Following dinner, back to the hotel for libations. I went to bed around 2:30 AM and there were still over 30 nobles commisurating.

Saturday May 15, 2010: Official 2010 Spring Ceremonial. The Divan in their tuxedos at the Port Huron High School ampitheatre and cafeteria. We ended up with 31 petitions, however 26 present, which is a very nice sized class. We were presented with deluxe donuts and coffee, once again by the Hungry 5.

When we were officially introduced in the ampitheatre, I said a few words, and then introduced the Class Honoree. I had him escorted intot the ampitheatre by our guest from Chicago. It was previously arranged that his entire Unit met him at one end of the auditorium, unbeknownst to him, and then happily walked him onto the stage. After some remarks from both of us, I presented him with a Director Emeritus Fez of his unit. All I will say that this is one of those times I will never forget, seeing that smile on the face of such a deserving Noble. One that expects no material rewards, but enjoys the Shrine for the bonds that he has formed and the life it has provided. I am truly proud to have had this experience, and to provide him with such an honor, which of course he downplayed the entire weekend.

At 10:30 we sat down in the ampitheatre to view the New and Improved Dramatic Corps. The first "new" item is the vintage huge backdrop that was "retrieved" from our previous home and hung from the rafters. What a beautiful sight. The Dramatic Corps utilized the new revised ceremonial script (as amended by our new director) and provided an light atmosphere of fun and frivolity. I burst out laughing a few times.

We went to lunch soonafter, where again, the Hungry 5 grilled some hot dogs, italian sausage and some steaks left over the from the previous night. No ONE went hungry.

Now it was time for the greatest Unit of Shrinedome (of course I am biased) to take control. The Directors Staff ensure, over the next 2 hours, that every new Noble never forgot the day they became a Shriner. Let's just say, they succeeded.

We got back to the hotel around 5 PM, I invited all the new Nobles, and you can imagine the amount of people in the room. We had such a great time, and it did not end until at least 6:30 P.M. when the last noble was escorted off the elevator (and that is all I will say).

Sunday May 16. I left around 10:00 A.M. and before heading back took a detour up north of Port Sanilac to my friends cabin. the cabin sits on 60 feet of Lake Huron and has a magnificant view of the lake. I had lunch and shared some good times. I left around 3:30 P.M. and ventured south to Sterling Heights.

Carrie and I exchanged stories of our weekend. I was so proud of her after she told me of the success of the Ladie's Luncheon. It apparently was so nice that my mom not only enjoyed the meal (in itself a major accomplishment) but was witness to laugh several times over the entertainment.

Well I am back to work, our prayers are with our several Nobles who are ill (way too many for comfort). May the Supreme Architect watch over all of us.

Take Care

Tuesday May 11, 2010

I am sitting in the Potentate's Office and listening to the Brass Band playing "Hail to the Victors", the shrine is awesome.

We had a finance meeting this evening and our Treasurer had a flat tire. Would you believe that the emergency service/towing truck owner that showed up had a square and compass and scimitar logos on the tow truck. What a beautiful world.

For a Tuesday evening, the Shrine Temple is a rockin'. Not only do I hear the Brass Band practicing, I can hear the Highlanders tuning their bag pipes. Also the New and Improved Dramatic Corps are practicing for this weeks debut of the newly revised, first section of the Shrine Ceremonial.

I have heard that we have at least 25 candidates for the Shrine this weekend and we are ready to welcome in with open arms.

This will probably be my last night at the Shrine Temple. I am leaving for Port Huron on Thursday to get into "Shrine-mode" (I know, when am I not in Shrine mode). Did I mention that I will be golfing on Friday morning, for only the 2nd time in my life (that should be a spectacle).

Great news on the College Football front, the Big 10 is finally going to make enter the 21st century. We should hear in a week about the expansion into a mega conference, one that should bring those corn-shuckin huskers into the Big House at least once in a while to show them how to really play Midwestern ball. I am so excited over the prospect of expansion into the Midwest and east, it makes perfect sense and is long overdue.

Have a great week and I will talk to you on the other side of the Ceremonial. It is Tuesday evening, which means LOST and Sonic Burgers for dinner. Take Care

Monday May 10, 2010

Only the weather would have made this past weekend any better.

Saturday morning I drove up to Port Huron to attend the first Outreach Clinic of the year for Moslem Shriners. Members of the Blue Water Shrine Club, in conjuction with our tremendous 2010 Child Care staff conducted one of the most successful clinics in recent history. Within a three hour period, 11 children were approved by our clinician and applications completed to begin the first step in receiving care at our Shriners Hospitals for Children. I did not do much, just sat and observed these great volunteers of our fraternity take care of business. It was amazing to see the smiles on everyone's faces at the end of the event, understanding the fruits of their labor. I wish that every Noble and his lady could witness an event such as this, it would truly cement into their hearts the true worth of being a member of this fantastic organization.

Afterwards, I went home and picked up Carrie and drove to Southfield to the Shrine Center. The prevailing winds knocked out the power in the entire area and we had to bring in massive generators to accomodate the power needs. We met the Chief Rabban and picked up the food and refreshments for our next event, the Taylor Shrine Club President's Ball.

We arrived in Taylor to be able to assist the President arrange the final details. I was asked to be the emcee of this year's event and it was one of the best attended Presiden'ts ball in recent history. What a fun event, the food turned out very well (thanks to my chikin' smellin' lovely and talented bride along with a couple of dedicated friends. The Camel's milk never stopped and the President's smile seemed like it was cemented on his face the entire evening.

We left around 10:30 and before heading back to the East Side, we stopped by Taylor Lanes to visit with some of the Nobles of the Americans, who were working a charity poker event. So many Units are taking advantage of these types of events to raise some funds and work very hard. The team present tonight are a well-tuned machine, led by a Noble who has taken the lead and arranged a team of Nobles to volunteer the entire year.

Finally, Carrie and I got home around 1AM and passed out from exhaustion.

Sunday "Mother's Day": I woke up to the fantastic smell of baked sweets. Carrie decided to make dozens and dozens of cupcakes (6 varieties) and the aroma in the house was great. She also made coffee (I will not tell you the rarity of this event), and I volunteered to be the tester of the cupcakes, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

We drove out to Plymouth and spent the afternoon at my in-laws, enjoying the company of Carrie's family.

We then drove back to the East Side and visited my mom and had dinner.

I hope that all our Mothers/ladies enjoyed their special day and understand how much we, the Shriners, hold you in highest regards to the future success of our organization.

Friday May 7, 2010

I had a busy week. I spent Monday - Wednesday afternoon/evenings at the Shrine Center for different meetings. Last night I drove out to Port Huron to attend the Blue Water Shrine Club's monthly meeting. The opportunity has not presented itself for me to attend one of their meetings this year and although I will be in Port Huron much of the next week, thought I would visit. They had a very nice meeting and are excited that the Shrine is coming to town within the week.

As I previoulsy mentioned, the beginning of May marks the return of our snow birds, and I have received many calls from newly arrived Nobles. There has been so much positive feedback for the many decisions and the directions the Board is charting, I am really amazed at the responses.

Well, our first Outreach Clinic will be held this Saturday in Port Huron, prior to the Spring Ceremonial. As I was driving around Port Huron I noticed two very prominently placed billboards advertising the clinics, I hope that we are able to find children who can benefit from our hospitals.

Well this evening I will finally see the Class Honoree of the Spring Ceremonial. He has been in Florida all winter, suffered a stroke, and did not beleive that he would make it up in time. However, he has perservered and is back to receive the honor he deserves. It is a moment like this to honor someone who has given so much to the Shrine, without any selfish motives. I am going to raise my glass to him.

Anyway, the weather is a rainin' and the amount of green around town is beautiful, a sight for soar eyes.

Have a great weekend.

R.I.P. - Ernie Harwell

We all knew this day was coming, but hoped that it would be delayed as long as possible. The manner in which Ernie led his life in the last year was indicative of his previous 91 years; with dignity, courage, and the high character befitting a mans of his stature.

Everyone has Ernie stories and how he has been a part of our lives. How many times did you turn on the radio, flipping through the channels and were suddenly enlightened by his stoic voice.

My Ernie Story is this: he was not a local personality, he was national. When my friends and I made our pilgrimage to mecca, for you non-baseball fans, that would Cooperstown, NY, for several Hall of Fame Induction ceremonies, we would wait with the masses in a huge field for several hours prior to the begining of the ceremony. The loudspeakers would play every baseball related song, and then, every year, prior to the beginning of the actual ceremony, they would play Ernie's famous speech about Baseball, and how it mirrors life, and its indirect importance to the last 100 years of American culture. There was silence, while everyone listened with an attentive ear. Everyone knew Ernie Harwell, he transcended his local popularity and was a national figure. I remember all the hate mail that the FOX tv channel received after the lady in the pumpkin dress cut Ernie off during a interview prior to the All Star Game held in Detroit a couple of years ago. The letters/emails were from all over the country, criticizing FOX for cutting off a legend.

It is a sad day, but as I write this I am listening to Drew and Mike playing many historic calls by Ernie, which will always bring a warm feeling of those memorable events in my life.

I am sure you will hear that famous speech in the next few days, I ask that you take a couple minutes to listen and enjoy the best of Ernie. (see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPcUcsT6Lek)

Soft and Safe to you be your earthly bed, Rest in Peace Ernie.

Wednesday May 5, 2010

We had a wonderful Monday evening at the Shrine Center. Many Units are now meeting on the first Monday of the month, and the hallways are full of Shriners, it is truly a great site.

I had to cancel the Board meeting Monday, due to a couple of other meetings requiring my attention, however, I had the opportunity to welcome back many snow birds, returning from the winter migrations. I made sure to point out that our average temperature was above normal this winter while Florida's was very below. It was good to see many of the Nobles returning, it gives me a sense that the Shrine is kicking into second gear for the year, let the good times roll.

Tuesday, I got to the Shrine Center around 4:30 PM and was fortunate to be able to complete a lot of paperwork. Carrie showed up around 5:30 and we spent a good part of the evening finalizing the Potentate's Ball details.

I also had a chance to review the latest accomplishment for this year. Once again we took another "traditional" idea, which was really a complacent, recurring, incorrect procedure, however due to the many years of implementation became some type of "policy", examined the facts of the situation and turned it around towards the correct path.
I am so proud of our Board Members, especially our High Priest and Prophet, who does not stop amazing me with his feats. I will not go into details, however, after many Nobles stating that if we were to update/change/amend certain vehicular titles we would face huge penalties, taxes, fees, etc. (blah, blah, blah), he was able to accomplish the task (that went on for some 20 years) and corrected everything, in accordance with the laws of the land and Imperial by laws.
I tip my fez to another accomplishment, and keep reminding myself and everyone that complacency is truly the root of all evil. We were taught an important phrase during our Oriental Guide Training session in Tampa (i.e. Shrine Camp) five years ago: "If you keep doing what you have done, you are going to keep getting what you have got" This mantra has stuck with me throughout my tenure as a leader of this organization, and I have attempted to successfully implement the solution whenever a situation arises that requires such attention.

Anyway, The Dramatic Corps met this evening as well, and I can see their enthusiasm as they prepare for the new and improved first section of the ceremonial, which is only a week and half away. I cannot wait to see this performance.

I have to go to the Shrine Center after work this afternoon to attend a special Board of Directors meeting.

Weekend of May 1

What a busy weekend.

Saturday began with a bang. Within the by laws of the Imperial Council of Shriners International is a section allowing for a Potentate to create a "Leadership Search Committee". The goal is to find a list of potential future leaders for the Shrine. To my knowledge this committee has never been created by a Potentate at Moslem in a long, long time.

I found three members, who I believe would be impartial in their selection of a potential list and asked them to have results by the end of March.

In conjunction with this, we took the list of members and invited them to a John Maxwell Leadership Training course entitled "The 360 degree leader", which taught how individual can be effective leaders at a local level (e.g. Shrine Club or Unit). Our Grand Lodge of Michigan has been teaching this course over the last couple of years and one of the Grand Lodge officers (also a proud member of Moslem Shriners) volunteered to conduct a class this year.

The combined result was a very well attended, well conducted 8 hour training session that began at 8:00 A.M. Saturday. 20 members attended, and the feedback was very positive. I believe that I saw the future of our Shrine's leadership sitting in that room, and at the end of the class, bought into the notion that more leadership training of this type is necessary to educate, train, and find effective leadership for Moslem's future.

After the session, I attended a benefit event, hosted by one of our Masonic Lodges in Dearborn, MI. This event raised money to assist in a fellow brothers struggle with a serious injury, while on duty as a Wayne County Sheriff. Our own Shrine Hungry Five donated the food, labor, handling for the event, in which hundreds and hundreds attended. There were law enforcement officials from almost every city and county, along with many leaders in that community. It was amazing to see the familial bonding of the husbands, wives, and children. But more amazing was the amount of members of our craft within this community. The Detroit Pipe and Drum band played, and every member was a member of the craft, of which the majority were also Shriners.

So many people came up to me thanking the Masons and Shriners for their unselfish support to this just cause. It literally brought a tear to my eye seeing the man of the hour, his wife and 2 year old son have a moment of joy and happiness, in what has to be a period of grief and frustration the past couple of months.

I am soooooo verrrrry proud to be a member of these brothers, who volunteered their time on a weekend night to help a fallen brother.

Sunday May 2: This is how my life is blessed by the Supreme Architect. I did not see my lovely and talented bride in almost 2 days. She woke up, took me out to lunch and surprised me by taking me to see the Tigers. My first game of the season, and Justin Verlander took a 1 hit shut out into the 9th, and almost got the complete game shutout. Nevertheless, it was a great game, great afternoon with my wife. We came home and I made my famous "Mike's Marvelous Mostaccioli".

Like I said, what a great weekend and it has cemented within me that everything that is being accomplished is for a reason and betterment of our society.

Much Love
